"Combining authentic Thai cuisine, hospitality and service
with recipes that blend the five tastes of
sweet, spicy, sour, bitter and salty.
Are you in the mood for Thai?"
We weren't actually in the mood for Thai on a Saturday night,
but the wait for Toko was 80 minutes as we didn't have a reservation!
Strolling down the block in search for other options,
a brightly lit sign attracted our attention
and upon closer inspection the menu appeared quite inviting.
fragrantly marinated chicken grilled on skewers
served with peanut sauce
(tender pieces of chicken thigh, great peanut dressing & sweet shallots sauce
though disappointing that the fat & skin were not removed.)
deep fried soft shell crab
served with sweet plum sauce & sweet chilli
(extra crispy batter & ample serving of crab)
chicken pad thai
stir fried thin noodle with egg, diced tofu, been sprouts & crushed peanuts
(staple dish that can't go wrong, less oily compared to Thai at Newtown)
healthy shiitake mushroom stir-fry
a vegetarian delight, shiitake mushroom, tofu,
seasonal vegetables stir-fried with soy sauce
(surprisingly the highlight of the night. fresh vegetables cooked perfectly, crunchy beans & broccoli, soft onions with roasted cashews.)
